The Train the Trainers Programme in Ultra Bespoke Tailoring
The Trinidad and Tobago Fashion Company Limited (FashionTT), in collaboration with the Savile Row Bespoke Academy and the MIC Institute of Technology will be facilitating the Train The Trainers Programme in Ultra Bespoke Tailoring. This is a one-year programme commencing on November 11, 2019.
The Train The Trainers (TTT) programme is an intensive one-year programme of study designed for tailors who wish to develop their career by training to a standard that would enable them to pass their newfound skills on to others. This programme will, through a professional practice course of study, prepare tailors for meaningful employment at the Savile Row Bespoke Academy, the MIC Institute of Technology, YTEPP among other institutions, thereby building a world class bespoke tailoring industry to establish a reputation for Made in T & T as the Mark of Quality.
This is a modular training programme in advanced and professional hand craft tailoring, comprising of men and women design, cut, fit and making of export quality suits. Included on the Train the Trainers are all other outerwear that the trainees aspire to learn. Suit fittings, diagnosis and remedy is an essential part of this advanced programme.
The importance of sharing knowledge and experiences onto aspiring tailors is essential to being considered for this programme.
This programme will:
• Provide specialist skills, to enable progression to employment at the highest levels of the tailoring and fashion related industries.
• Teach the skills required of a Master Tailor in an effort to inspire others to pass on skills to younger learners.
• Provide an intensive, skill-based training programme in higher order skills in bespoke tailoring, stripes and check cloth matching, cutting and fitting various garment making.
• Enable the tailoring sector in Trinidad & Tobago to flourish thereby becoming an exemplar of excellence in the Caribbean and North America.
As the core emphasis of this programme is practice skills. Admission to this programme will be limited to individuals who have completed the SRBA Ultra Bespoke Course and other advanced tailoring practitioners. Trainees must be able to demonstrate through previous learning and experience that they have the necessary aptitude, attitude and willingness to successfully complete this course.
All applicants must be interviewed and assessed prior to entry to the programme.
An asset and more desirable criteria is a strong commitment to teach others how to become a Master Tailor in high standards of production and pride in a finished product.
The programme will be delivered through one to one tutorials, practical tuition, Show and Do and special assignments. Progress and achievements of the course standards will be measured by continuous tests, evidence of a finished product and observation of processes. Each trainee must complete a minimum of four fully bespoke suits.
